So in case you haven’t noticed, the Sy Fy channel isn’t really
science fiction anymore and hasn’t been in quite some time. They’ve
been producing movies for the past few years that involve giant
crocodiles, sharks, mega things (yeah like mega sized dinosaur
creatures) that wind up terrorizing towns. They’re almost like horror
movies but at the same time laughable.
Well, last night people went crazy after seeing Sharknado
which was coined as “so bad it’s good.” Does this spell career
resurrection for one Tara Reid, the film’s star? Probably not, but
along with the general public, celebrities were going nuts over the
movie as well. Here’s the premise of the movie:
A tornado hits the water and picks up a bunch of sharks, then rains them down from the sky onto a flooded town. Hence, Sharknado.
It’s an absurd premise but the funny thing is that these events
actually can happen. There have been instances of fish getting caught
in tornadoes and raining down on areas within towns. However, the
likelihood of this happening with sharks and the sharks surviving to
terrorize? Slim to none. Nevertheless here are some celebrity
reactions to the movie.
Michael Chiklis: “Clearly SyFy is employing the old, “so bad, it’s good,” method with tremendous effect. #TrendingForHours #SharkNado”
B.J. Novak: “I’m afraid that now when we have a real sharknado everyone’s going to treat it like a joke”
Patton Oswalt: “Just got a call from the 2nd A.D. on the movie
I’m filming. Call time canceled tomorrow. ALL movies canceled. It’s
done. #SharkNado”
Mia Farrow: “omg omg OMG #sharknado”
Olivia Wilde: “I just recorded it based on this review: “@MiaFarrow: Omg omg OMG #sharknado”
Elizabeth Banks: “Well, there goes my Emmy. RT @Syfy: .
@oliviawilde @MiaFarrow We have roles for you both in the #Sharknado
sequel @DamonLindelof is writing”
